"...so piratey it sweats parrots!"
by Capt. Bilgemunky
"What, no ships? No pillaging? And you never even leave port until
the very end? Bloody 'eck, what kind of pirate game is this? Short
answer: A drop-dead-in-your-linens-and-flog-a-seagull-for-grins
fantastic one..." Read

"Gathering your Pi-ra-te crew"
by Charles A. Smith (Greybear)
"Have you ever flipped through a picture book that allows you to
change body parts so you can, for example, combine an iguana head
with a snake body and an alligator tail?... Now we have the same
fundamental mechanic reincarnated for childlike grownups in the
card game Skallywaggs from the new publisher Bent Castle Workshops..."

"Few card games I know have such a fun
ending." by Matthew Webster (bigcheese)
"...In both the 2- and 3-player games I have played there has always
been a frantic finale with different players each trying to set
sail while thwarting their opponents. Skallywaggs always goes out
with a fight..." Read

"Skallywaggs is a keeper!" by
Edd Allard (edralla)
"After reading the rules online, I couldn't wait to get my copy
of Skallywaggs. I'm a big fan of Pirate-theme games (although most
offerings leave me flat) and I love card games. So to me, this seemed
like a match made in heaven! Needless to say, I wasn't disappointed..."

Its time for the News (and
the Olds) Back to top
Sept 2005
Skallywaggs site has been careened
That's right, we beached her and cleaned a bunch of barnacles from
below the waterline. Didja notice? Probably not, but the repairs
should make skimming the waters of our order pages much smoother.
We raise our tankards in salute of Dan Prince O'Pirates for all
his help with that and to Wild Mutt LeGrange for getting our postings
posted!

Speaking of clandestine raids...
We figured GenCon
was at least as big as a four-player game so a crew of five was
all we needed to set sail, so five we were plus Sparky Shanty Erasmus
and Painted Mojo Du Moko. We loaded our fleet, all two ships, with
cargo and made our way to Indianapolis with few plans beyond grappling
our way aboard and making our mark. Many thanks and a broadside
salute go out to Scott Agnew for allowing us to drop anchor at the
Morrigan
Press booth. We couldn't have asked for nicer moorings!
Our footprint may have been small but we did our best to make a
big splash. |
